Children's Ski Lessons in Val d’Isère
The best ski lessons are those that match your child’s age, skiing ability and confidence. At Progression Ski & Snowboard School, we believe children should ski in a group where they feel comfortable rather than simply being placed according to the hardest run they have managed. Well-matched groups allow children to develop technique and confidence while having fun and enjoying their time on the mountain.
Progression’s Marmotte beginner groups start from age five. These groups are designed for children on their first ski holiday or those who may only have skied once or twice before. Marmotte groups have a maximum of six children, allowing younger beginners plenty of attention while they develop their first skiing skills.
It depends on the child. Group lessons are fantastic for children who enjoy skiing with other children, learning together and making friends. Private lessons offer more individual attention and can work particularly well for nervous children, those wanting to progress quickly or children whose skiing doesn't fit comfortably into one of the group levels.
What Ski Level Is My Child?
Your Progression levels run from Marmotte → Chamois → Ibex → Wolves → Golden Eagle, with separate Teen 1 and Teen 2 groups.
Choose the group that best matches your child's current skiing ability and confidence. Don't choose a level simply because your child has managed a particular piste once. Think about the terrain they can ski repeatedly, comfortably and in normal mountain conditions.
Marmotte is our beginner level. It is suitable for children aged five and over who are on their first ski holiday or may only have skied for a session or two previously. Marmotte groups have a maximum of six children.
Chamois is our Green Run level. Children should be able to make steady snowplough turns on beginner slopes and/or green runs. Chamois groups have a maximum of eight children.
Private Ski Lessons in Val d’Isère
Prices vary according to lesson duration and the time of season. Progression offers both shorter private lessons and longer sessions, including full-day instruction. Check our current prices when booking, as these may vary by season and availability.
They can be extremely valuable because the lesson is built around you. An instructor can focus specifically on your technique, confidence, preferred terrain and objectives rather than teaching to the needs of a larger group.
It depends on what you want to achieve. A morning works well for focused coaching, while a full day provides more time to explore the Val d’Isère–Tignes ski area and combine technical coaching with mileage around the mountain.
